President Bola Tinubu is leading a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking his first appearance at the council since June 29, 2026.
Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday and formally opened proceedings with the national anthem.
The meeting has in attendance the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside federal ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies.
At the start of the session, the council observed a minute of silence in memory of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance during the military administration of Ibrahim Babangida. Alhaji died on July 30, 2026.
The council also paid tribute to Prof. Turner Isoun, who served as Minister of Science and Technology under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Isoun died on July 15, 2026.
The latest meeting comes nearly two months after the previous FEC session held on June 29.
During that meeting, President Tinubu swore in two newly appointed Federal Commissioners representing Bauchi and Kaduna states on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
They were Amina Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar, representing Kaduna State.
Further details of the decisions and resolutions reached at Wednesday’s meeting are expected to emerge later.
