The All Progressives Congress has announced August 22, 2026, as the date for its primary elections 2to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as legislative bye-elections across Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
The party disclosed this in its timetable and schedule of activities released on Wednesday and signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu.
The APC said the timetable was issued following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s restoration of four State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi that had previously been suppressed.
The affected constituencies in Delta are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II is the restored constituency in Kogi State.
For the legislative bye-elections, the party listed the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.
Under the schedule, aspirants are expected to purchase nomination materials between August 18 and 20, with the deadline for submission of completed forms and supporting documents also set for August 20.
Screening of aspirants, release of screening results and consideration of appeals will take place on August 21, ahead of the primaries the following day.
The party has fixed August 24 for the hearing of appeals arising from the primary elections.
The APC pegged the expression of interest fee for State House of Assembly aspirants at N1 million, while the nomination fee is N5 million, bringing the total to N6 million.
For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest form costs N1 million, while the nomination fee is N9 million, making .a combined N10 million
The party also approved a 50 per cent reduction on nomination fees for female, youth and physically challenged aspirants, while requiring all payments to be made in full directly into the APC’s designated bank account.
The development follows INEC’s decision to restore the four previously suppressed constituencies after a series of court judgments. The constituencies had remained without direct representation in their respective State Houses of Assembly for several years.
Meanwhile, the APC timetable also provides for the party’s primaries ahead of the legislative bye-elections in the four states.
One of the contests is the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat, which became vacant following the death of the former lawmaker, Tongo Yaya.
