Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC, days after securing victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Adeleke collected the certificate at the INEC office in Osogbo on Wednesday, where he was accompanied by supporters of the Accord Party.

The governor, visibly elated by the outcome, broke into a dance as party members and supporters celebrated his re-election.

After the presentation, Adeleke proceeded to the Ataoja Palace in Osogbo, where he was received by a large gathering of residents and supporters.

Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in the remaining 11.

The result guarantees Adeleke another four-year tenure in office.

Reacting to his victory, the governor described the election as a victory for democratic principles and promised to make industrialisation a major focus of his second term.

Adeleke said his administration would work towards reducing Osun’s dependence on the civil service and repositioning the state as an industrial centre.
