The operation was carried out on August 29, 2026, when troops of Sector 2 moved into suspected terrorist hideouts in the area.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops came under heavy resistance from armed terrorists during the operation.
Danja said the soldiers responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to retreat.
He disclosed that troops subsequently searched the area and confirmed the death of a terrorist identified as Smally, described as a lieutenant to the notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Filani.
The operation also led to the recovery of three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines and 180 rounds of ammunition.
Six motorcycles reportedly used by the terrorists during their operations were also recovered.
Danja said the operation formed part of the ongoing offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to intensify pressure on terrorist groups and weaken their operational capabilities across the Joint Operations Area.
He added that the troops remained committed to restricting the movement and activities of terrorists while creating an environment conducive to restoring peace and security in affected communities.
“Troops remain resolute in taking the fight to the terrorists, denying them freedom of action and creating conditions for the restoration of lasting peace and security across affected communities,” Danja said.
