Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu, has died after a prolonged illness, family sources have confirmed.

Aliyu, who served as deputy governor under the administration of former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari from 2007 to 2015, reportedly passed away in Sokoto.

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has expressed sadness over the former deputy governor’s death, describing it as a great loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and the country.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the governor said the late Aliyu was a respected leader known for his integrity, humility and commitment to public service.

Governor Idris noted that Aliyu served the state with distinction both as a career civil servant and as deputy governor, adding that his contributions to the development of Kebbi State would remain a lasting legacy.

He prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family, the Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi State the strength to bear the loss.
