Orbih reportedly passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, with his death formally announced by his family.
The announcement was contained in a statement released on Tuesday by Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka.
In the statement, the family described Orbih as a cherished brother, husband, father and uncle, while expressing grief over his death.
The family said he died after a period of service to his family and community, adding that they remained resigned to the will of God.
Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih; his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Mildred Omonemi Orbih; alongside his siblings and other relatives.
The family urged relatives, friends and sympathisers to keep them in their prayers as they come to terms with the loss.
It added that arrangements for his burial would be communicated at a later date.
Orbih was a notable figure within the PDP and was closely associated with the political camp of Wike, the former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
In 2024, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo appointed Orbih, who was identified as the PDP South-South Zonal Chairman, as Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the then Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
