The electoral body said the fake announcement, currently circulating on social media and other online platforms, directs interested applicants to a website presented as an official recruitment portal.
However, INEC clarified on Monday that neither the announcement nor the website was authorised by the commission.
In a statement, the commission said it had become aware of an online message falsely suggesting that recruitment for the 2027 election had commenced.
INEC specifically warned that the website linked to the message was not part of its official platforms and urged Nigerians to avoid interacting with it.
The commission advised members of the public not to click on the circulated link, submit personal details, upload documents or make payments through the platform.
According to INEC, genuine recruitment exercises and other election-related announcements would only be communicated through its verified channels and official website.
The commission therefore urged Nigerians seeking authentic information to rely on its official communication platforms and visit inecnigeria.org for updates.
INEC noted that it had previously issued similar warnings about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements designed to mislead members of the public under the guise of being connected to the commission.
It urged Nigerians to disregard the latest recruitment notice and refrain from sharing it further.
The electoral body also reminded members of the public to verify the authenticity of online information before clicking on links or submitting personal information.
INEC urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and always verify recruitment announcements before taking any action.
