A section of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) headquarters in Abuja was affected by a fire outbreak in the early hours of Sunday, prompting a rapid response from emergency officials.

The incident occurred at the bank’s headquarters located in the Central Business District, where the fire engulfed parts of the third floor and filled sections of the building with thick smoke.

Personnel of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service, supported by the bank’s emergency response team, quickly arrived at the scene and successfully brought the situation under control before the flames could spread to other parts of the facility.

The fire was largely restricted to the Board Room and a number of executive offices, limiting the extent of the damage.

Following the incident, the bank assured customers and stakeholders that its core operations remain secure, stressing that important financial records and digital information were not compromised.

FMBN also announced that investigations have begun to determine the cause of the fire, while experts continue to assess the damage. Members of staff have been asked to await further directives from the management.
