Only three women have been listed among the 76 officials invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, highlighting the low representation of women in the party’s campaign leadership structure.

The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Presidential Campaign Council headquarters on Herbert Macaulay Way, Central Business District, Abuja, according to an internal memorandum dated October 18 and signed by the council’s secretary, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

An examination of the list shows that 73 of the 76 invitees are men, while women account for approximately 3.9 per cent of those expected to attend the meeting.

The three women named in the memorandum are Zainab Marwa, secretary of the Directorate of Infrastructure Mobilisation and Sensitisation; Hadiza Usman, assistant secretary in the council’s secretariat; and Stella Okotete, listed as Secretary I in the Directorate of Election Planning, Coordination, Monitoring and Mobilisation.

The document outlines the attendance of vice chairpersons, state coordinators, the director-general, deputy director-generals and officials representing various directorates within the campaign council.

It also states that participation in the meeting is restricted to individuals specifically listed in the attached invitation.

Several prominent political figures are expected to attend, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke; Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo; and Governor Uzodimma.

Others listed are Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who will serve as the council’s first, second and third deputy vice chairmen, respectively.

Yobe State Governor Mala Buni is listed as Deputy Director-General I for the North, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin occupies the position of Deputy Director-General II for the region.

Efforts to obtain comments from Oguwike Nwachuku, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uzodimma, were unsuccessful due to poor network connectivity.

Although a text message seeking his reaction was sent, no response had been received as of the time of filing this report.
