The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect.
Ogunwuyi announced his decision in a resignation letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that his departure from the state government took effect on the same day.
In the letter, he expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his time in the administration as an honour and highlighting the collective efforts of the team in advancing Oyo State’s development.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he said.
The former lawmaker added that he remained proud of the administration’s accomplishments in promoting the state’s growth, development and prosperity.
He also expressed confidence in Oyo State’s continued progress, noting that he was leaving his position with gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the government’s work.
Ogunwuyi concluded the letter by assuring Makinde of his highest esteem and continued loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
His resignation comes amid the departure of several aides of the governor from the state government in the past two months.
Ogunwuyi previously served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives before his appointment as Chief of Staff to the governor.
