The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has deployed an operational police aircraft to Ogun State to reinforce security operations and boost efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
The aircraft and its crew were officially received on behalf of Governor Dapo Abiodun by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, who expressed appreciation to the IGP for responding swiftly to the state’s request for additional security support.
Talabi explained that the deployment followed Governor Abiodun’s request for enhanced aerial surveillance to strengthen Ogun’s security architecture and improve ongoing operations against criminal groups.
He noted that the aircraft would improve intelligence gathering, aerial monitoring and rapid response by security agencies, thereby increasing their capacity to tackle security threats across the state.
According to him, the deployment reflects the strong collaboration between the Ogun State Government and security agencies, a partnership he said has continued to produce positive results in protecting lives, property and critical infrastructure.
The SSG added that the aircraft would play a key role in Operation KOSAYE, the joint security operation involving Ogun and Lagos states aimed at eliminating kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements operating in forests, border communities and other identified flashpoints.
He said the additional aerial support would further strengthen the ongoing operation and improve efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts across affected areas.
Governor Abiodun also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the resources and support needed by security agencies to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
He added that the state government would continue investing in security initiatives designed to maintain peace, protect residents and create a safe environment for economic growth and development.
