The Edo State Police Command has welcomed CP Patrick Daaor, mnips, as its new Commissioner of Police, making him the 51st police commissioner to head the command.
Daaor officially assumed duty on Monday, August 10, 2026, taking over from AIG Monday Agbonika, fdc, who has been redeployed as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police supervising the Edo and Delta State Commands.

Daaor joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and International Studies from the University of Jos and a Master’s degree in the same field from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt.
The new commissioner brings extensive experience in policing, criminal investigations, intelligence, administration and international peacekeeping to his new assignment.
Throughout his career, he has served in several commands and formations across Bauchi, Adamawa, Ondo, Kaduna, Ekiti, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abuja and Lagos.
He has also undertaken international assignments with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS).
Among the senior positions he has occupied are Team Leader at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), INTERPOL; Area Commander, Choba, Rivers State; Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Ekiti State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing Administration at the Police Staff College, Jos.
He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of International Investigation at INTERPOL and later headed the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bayelsa State.
Before his latest appointment, Daaor was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
His professional training includes specialised courses in tactical leadership, digital forensics, human rights, conflict analysis, military peacekeeping and strategic command.
Among these are the Combat Course in Gwoza, Human Rights Training of Trainers Workshop, UNITAR Course on Understanding Conflict and Conflict Analysis, Tactical Leadership and Command Course, Digital Forensic Awareness Course, and the Military Observers Course at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji.
He also completed the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the National Institute for Police Studies.
On assumption of office, CP Daaor pledged to deploy his wealth of operational, investigative and intelligence experience towards strengthening security and improving policing across Edo State.
He also expressed commitment to professional and intelligence-led policing, stronger community engagement, respect for human rights and sustained action against crime and criminal networks.
The new commissioner called on residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and the media to support the police and work with the command towards creating a safer and more secure Edo State.
