President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, as Director of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential re-election campaign.

The appointment places Keyamo in charge of coordinating aviation-related logistics for the campaign, with the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, named Deputy Director I, while Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar will serve as Deputy Director II.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Keyamo’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood.

According to the statement, the directorate will oversee air transportation arrangements for campaign officials and personnel, coordinate travel schedules and support campaign activities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

It added that the structure was established to address the logistical demands of a nationwide presidential campaign, particularly the need to move key officials between multiple locations within tight schedules.

The statement noted that Keyamo’s experience as the country’s aviation minister would inform his leadership of the directorate, given his involvement in policy initiatives aimed at developing Nigeria’s aviation industry and strengthening its international profile.

It also stated that the appointment of Kuku and Umar would bring aviation-sector leadership and technical expertise to the team, supporting planning and coordination for campaign-related air movements.

The directorate is expected to collaborate with other units within the APC campaign structure to ensure effective scheduling, coordination with relevant stakeholders and efficient use of logistical resources.

However, all its operations are expected to comply with aviation safety standards, electoral laws and other applicable regulations.

The statement further emphasised the need to maintain a clear separation between campaign activities and official government functions, noting that campaign-related arrangements must be conducted through duly authorised channels.

Tinubu’s re-election campaign is being organised under the APC Presidential Campaign Council, which comprises political leaders and designated directorates responsible for coordinating the party’s preparations for the 2027 general election.
