The Rivers State Government has rejected reports of a dispute between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly over the proposed 2026 budget.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.
Nzeshi described the reports published by some newspapers and online platforms as misleading, insisting that there is no breakdown in relations between the executive and legislative arms of the state government.
According to him, Fubara continues to maintain a cordial working relationship with the lawmakers and remains committed to advancing the interests of Rivers residents.
He explained that the 2026 Appropriation Bill is currently before the State House of Assembly and is going through the required legislative procedures after being formally presented by the governor.
The governor’s spokesperson expressed confidence that the lawmakers would conclude their consideration of the proposal and pass the budget in accordance with the law.
The state government also called on individuals and groups promoting what it described as negative narratives about the relationship between the governor and lawmakers to stop doing so.
Nzeshi stressed that peace and political stability were essential to sustaining development in Rivers State.
He added that the Fubara administration would continue to promote cooperation and harmony between the executive and legislative arms of government in order to maintain steady development across the state.
