The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of eight Commissioners of Police to various state commands across the country and appointed a new Commandant for the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani.
According to the statement, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo has been posted to Abia State as Commissioner of Police, while CP Ayodeji Faniyan takes over the Plateau State Command. CP Saka Adewale Ajao has been deployed to Bayelsa State.
The Commission also approved the posting of CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to Cross River State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama to Anambra State, and CP Patrick Daaor to Edo State.
In addition, CP Tijani Murtala has been assigned to Jigawa State, while CP Samuel Erale Etaifo will head the Delta State Police Command.
The PSC further approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil.
AIG Mohammed is a seasoned police officer with more than three decades of service spanning operations, investigations, intelligence-led policing and police training. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University, Kano.
Throughout his career, he has served in several strategic positions, including Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 3 and Zone 6. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
The Commission explained that the latest postings became necessary following the promotion of some senior officers and are intended to strengthen operational efficiency and improve policing across the country.
Addressing the newly deployed officers, the Commissioner representing the Judiciary on the PSC Board, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, rtd), who chaired the session, charged them to uphold professionalism, respect the rule of law, remain politically impartial and carry out their responsibilities with integrity and dedication.
Other PSC Board members present at the meeting included Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, Hon. Justice Christine Ladi Dabup (rtd), Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, as well as the Secretary to the Commission.
