The Nigeria Police Force has recorded fresh operational successes across several states, including the rescue of seven kidnapped victims, arrest of suspected criminals and recovery of firearms, ammunition and other exhibits.
The successes were recorded between September 15 and 16, 2026, during operations conducted by police personnel, in some cases alongside vigilante groups and other security personnel.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, who said the operations were carried out in Katsina, Anambra, Delta, the Federal Capital Territory, Jigawa, Oyo, Rivers, Kaduna and Nasarawa states.
In Katsina State, police operatives repelled a bandit attack at Makwanta Village, Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area, on September 16 and rescued three kidnapped victims unhurt.
The operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, three MP3 players, a mobile phone, a knife and three wraps of suspected Indian hemp from the fleeing suspects.
In Anambra State, police operatives working with vigilante personnel foiled a kidnapping operation at Abagana, Njikoka LGA, rescuing two victims after sustained pursuit forced the suspects to abandon them. An abandoned Highlander Jeep was also recovered.
In Delta State, four suspected kidnappers were arrested during intelligence-led operations in Asaba on September 15. Two victims were rescued, including one whose family had reportedly paid ransom without securing his release. Mobile phones, ATM cards, jewellery, wristwatches and other exhibits were recovered.
In the Federal Capital Territory, police patrol operatives engaged armed robbers during an attack on a mini estate at Sauka Village, Kuje LGA. One suspect was neutralised during the exchange of gunfire, while efforts continued to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
In Jigawa State, one armed attacker was neutralised after a joint patrol team was ambushed in Gwaram LGA. Police also recovered a mobile phone belonging to the attackers at the scene.
Similarly, police operatives in Oyo State recovered a stolen Hyundai Sonata in Akinyele, Ibadan, and arrested three suspects found in possession of the vehicle.
In another operation in Anambra State, officers recovered a stolen TVS tricycle from Old Nkpor and arrested five suspects allegedly linked to the criminal syndicate.
In Rivers State, suspicious motorcyclists intercepted during a routine patrol along the Kaani-Bori axis of Khana LGA reportedly abandoned an AK-47 rifle and two rounds of live ammunition before fleeing.
A joint police patrol team in Kaduna State also conducted a clearance operation in Arabu Forest Reserve, Makarfi LGA, recovering two locally made firearms, three sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and a military camouflage T-shirt.
Meanwhile, three suspects were arrested in Nasarawa State following a sustained manhunt over a violent attack at Bukan Ari, Doma LGA. The suspects are being investigated in connection with culpable homicide and other offences.
The police said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
