The Nigeria Democratic Congress has inaugurated its newly acquired national secretariat in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen its operations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The facility, located in the Jabi area of the Federal Capital Territory, was unveiled on Monday following an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee.
The ceremony was attended by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas; its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson; Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly; and the party’s Rivers State governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, alongside other leaders and members.
The new secretariat is expected to serve as the party’s administrative headquarters and presidential campaign base as it expands its activities ahead of the next general elections.
The development comes amid efforts by the NDC to consolidate its organisational structure and establish a central hub for coordinating its nationwide political operations.
The party has positioned itself as an alternative platform for opposition forces seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on the occasion, Dickson congratulated party members and supporters on the acquisition, describing the facility as a unifying centre for the party.
He referred to the new secretariat as the party’s “newly acquired Noah’s Ark,” adding that it would provide a befitting home for all members.
