MRS filling stations, a key distribution partner of Dangote Refinery, have remained without petrol supplies for at least seven days following the recent increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
Checks across Abuja and nearby communities showed that several MRS outlets have not received fresh fuel supplies since July 17, 2026, leaving many motorists unable to purchase petrol.
A manager at one of the affected stations, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Friday, confirmed the situation.
“We have not had fuel supply since last Thursday. However, we hope to get supply today (Friday) following the resumption of Dangote Refinery’s gantry sales in naira,” he said.
The shortage followed Dangote Refinery’s temporary suspension of petrol sales in naira through its gantry on July 15, 2026. The refinery resumed naira sales on Thursday and raised its ex-depot price from N1,175 to N1,215 per litre.
The return to naira transactions is expected to ease concerns in the downstream petroleum sector after days of uncertainty over fuel supply.
However, marketers and depot operators have already adjusted petrol prices upward at least twice within the past week.
As of Friday, petrol was selling for between N1,300 and N1,340 per litre at filling stations in parts of Abuja.
