A police corporal attached to the Ajaokuta Division of the Kogi State Police Command has reportedly shot dead his girlfriend, Woman Corporal Grace, before taking his own life with an AK-47 rifle.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 9 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, although the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear.

According to a source familiar with the incident, the officer, identified as Corporal Amos, was assigned to night-duty station guard and reportedly resumed duty at about 6 p.m. before leaving his post a few hours later.

The source claimed that Amos went to Grace’s quarters, where he allegedly shot her multiple times before turning the rifle on himself.

Grace reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to her shoulder, lower abdomen and leg.

The motive behind the incident has not been officially established. However, the source linked the tragedy to reported relationship difficulties between the two officers.

According to the account, the pair had been in a romantic relationship for several years but began experiencing trust issues and accusations of infidelity in recent months.

The account also claimed that Amos fired three shots at Grace before shooting himself.
