The Delta State Police Command has arrested 22 suspected drug offenders and rescued two minors during a coordinated intelligence-led operation targeting drug dens and criminal hideouts in Ozoro and Abraka.
The raid was carried out on Monday, July 21, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m. under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed identified drug hotspots in Ofagbe Community, Ozoro, as well as Ekrejeta and the NUT Area in Abraka.
The operation led to the arrest of 22 suspects, including 19 men and three women, over alleged offences involving the possession, sale, and distribution of illicit drugs.
During the exercise, officers also rescued two minors who were found inside a suspected drug den reportedly operated by their father. The children have been placed under protective care and will be transferred to the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper custody and welfare, while investigations continue.
Reacting to the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, described the discovery of children in a location associated with illegal drug activities as deeply disturbing.
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks, protect vulnerable persons, and sustain intelligence-driven operations aimed at tackling illicit drug activities and other criminal enterprises across the state.
The Police Commissioner also urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain alert and continue sharing credible information with security agencies to strengthen the fight against crime and improve public safety in Delta State.
