In a heart-wrenching incident at Kwaita village market within Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, a middle-aged woman, Mrs. Rebecca Gbaje, found herself in distress as a wheelbarrow pusher absconded with the food supplies she had recently purchased.
At the market, a reporter witnessed the emotional scene unfold, with customers and fellow traders offering their sympathies to Mrs. Gbaje. In a display of solidarity, some sympathizers undertook a search around the market premises in an attempt to locate the missing wheelbarrow pusher.
With tears streaming down her face, Mrs. Gbaje recounted her unfortunate ordeal to those who had gathered to console her. She explained that she had procured a variety of food items, including bags of rice, beans, maize, and other ingredients.
To facilitate the transport of her purchases, she enlisted the assistance of a wheelbarrow pusher.
After loading the goods onto the wheelbarrow, she recounted that she momentarily left to buy fish, instructing the pusher to wait.
However, upon returning with her purchased fish, Mrs. Gbaje was devastated to find that the wheelbarrow pusher had vanished along with her valuable groceries.
She revealed that she had traveled from Fogbe village to Kwaita market to secure the food supplies, an expense totaling N23,300.
Responding to the woman’s plight, some compassionate traders pooled their resources and contributed money to help Mrs. Gbaje purchase replacement food items.
Despite their support, her grief was profound and she remained inconsolable.
