The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has vowed to unveil the identities of those behind the killing and maiming of innocent people in the State in a few weeks.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he declared, “In a few weeks’ time, we will reveal the individuals responsible for the violence and insecurity in Imo State with the resources we have deployed.”
Uzodinma, who has previously linked insecurity in the State to political factors, pleaded with perpetrators of this violence, in the name of politics, to stop.
According to him, it is not a coincidence that majority of those killed, maimed or their properties set ablaze are government officials and members of his political party, All Progressives Congress (APC)
“I have told the security to tell me the reasons behind it. It is not a coincidence that many people who are being killed are members of my party, APC. A child cries in the night and in the day it is lying lifeless.
“It is not also a coincidence that only lately, prominent members of my party that participated in the last election – their houses are being attacked. Some traditional rulers that I have sympathy for our party, their party were also being attacked,” he lamented.
He added that “ if you want to chase a governor out, it’s not by sponsoring killings or burning houses of human beings. It is by coming to talk to Imo people to vote for you on the day of election as long as that is not being done, it is no longer democracy.”
Hope Uzodinma will be running for re-election in November.
