A 45-year-old man, identified as Bankole Oginni, who was arrested for allegedly killing his ex-lover and dismembering her body, has revealed the reasons for his action.
The unfortunate incident occurred in Oke Aro area of Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday.
The suspect was taken into custody after the victim’s daughter reported at the Police Station that she traced her mother’s whereabouts to the suspect’s house and found her lifeless body with her legs and hands tied and intestines removed.
There were also patches on the deceased’s body that showed signs of hot water burns, according to the State Police Spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, said.
In a video confession, Bankole explained that the victim sought financial help from him so invited to come to his family home to get the money.
“The moment she got there, I offered her coke. She didn’t even drink the coke and she slumped. I was scared and I didn’t know what to do. That made me take some after decisions.
“I poured hot water on her with the hope that she would wake up.”
When asked why he tied her legs and hands, he said: “ I was very scared; I tied the legs. I cut it, I thought I could put it somewhere.”
Also responding to the question on why he harvested her intestines, he answered, “So I can put it inside bags.”
