The election of the Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker, Moses Sule has been nullified.
His election was nullified on Friday by the National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, the state capital.
Sule represents the Mikang State constituency and was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In nullifying the speaker’s election on Friday, the tribunal also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw a certificate of return earlier issued to him and give it to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Daniel Nanlong, who scored the second-highest number of votes cast during the election.
The tribunal had ruled against the speaker on the basis that his party, the PDP, had no legal structure to nominate him as a candidate to stand for election during the last poll.
