The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos, on Friday, affirmed the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Nentawe Goshwe Yiltwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mutfwang was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC declared that the governor polled 525,299 votes beating Yiltwatda, who polled 481,370 votes at the polls.
The tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by the governorship Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Alfred Dabwan against Governor Mutfwang.
Dabwan had approached the tribunal seeking the nullification of the poll over the alleged exclusion of his party’s logo on the ballot by INEC.
Meanwhile, the PDP has reacted to the development.
In a tweet on its official X handle, the main opposition party said this is yet another victory for democracy and for the people of Plateau State.
“Just in: The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Plateau State, has just affirmed the election of H.E. @CalebMutfwang of the @OfficialPDPNig, as the duly elected Governor Of the State.
