The Police in Bayelsa State have reunited two trafficked children with their family.
The children named 12-year-old Divine Lucky and 5-year-old Angel Lucky, were found roaming the Tombia-Etegwe roundabout area of the State after they were abandoned by an unknown child trafficker.
A community chief took them to Akenfa Police Division, where a search for their parents started.
According to the State Police Spokesperson, SP Asinim Butswat, it was discovered that the children were stolen by a suspected child trafficker from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and brought to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The Police contacted the Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State, Dr. Thomas Bariere, who came to Yenagoa in the company of the parents of the children.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Tolani Alausa. has directed all Police operatives to intensify surveillance on the perpetrators of child trafficking in the State. Investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the unknown suspect, who is still at large.
