President Bola Tinubu on Friday, exempted the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of the federal government.
The president’s directive was announced by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike at a news conference in Abuja.
The presidential directive now makes it possible for the Nyesom Wike-led FCTA to solely utilise the Territory’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the development of the nation’s capital city.
Wike also disclosed that the president had approved the creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission for the Territory.
Wike also disclosed that Tinubu also approved the establishment of the Woman Affairs secretariat.
The commission, he disclosed, would be commissioned next week.
The implication of establishing an FCT Civil Service empowers Wike to have more control over the appointment of civil servants, promotion, and discipline in the FCTA.
