Tinubu Closes Defence In LP, Obi’s Petition
President Bola Tinubu and the All-Progressives Congress, on Wednesday, closed their defence in the petition filed by Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi,
challenging his victory in the 2023 Presidential elections.
At the Court sitting on Wednesday, President Tinubu, through his lead counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, presented one witness identified as Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele,
who is the Senate Majority Leader?
In his testimony, Senator Bamidele told the Court that there was a shortfall of about 10,929 votes in the votes recorded for President Tinubu in Kano State.
He also confirmed a letter the LP wrote to INEC on April 25, 2022, wherein it forwarded its membership Register as well as its list of members in Anambra State, to the Commission.
The membership Register did not contain Obi’s name. Both documents from the LP to INEC were admitted in evidence by the panel and marked as
Exhibits RA-17 and RA-18.
Senator Bamidele also insisted that the $460,000 forfeiture order against the President by an American Court was in respect of a civil matter and not a criminal forfeiture.
