President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Lagos State Head of Service (HOS), Hakeem Muri-Okunola, as his Principal Private Secretary.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Tunde Rahman, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.
Muri-Okunola, 51 years old, boasts an impressive academic background with a Bachelor’s degree in law from Lagos State University (LASU) and a Master’s degree in International Business Law from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London.
Having built a distinguished career in public administration, Muri-Okunola brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Over the years, he has held various significant positions, including Associate Solicitor at Adepetun, Caxton-Martins, and Agbor, Company Secretary/Legal Adviser at Ibile Holdings Limited, Personal Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, Executive Secretary of the Land Use and Allocation Committee, and Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Public Service.
Muri-Okunola’s journey in public service commenced in 2001 when he served as a personal assistant to President Tinubu during Tinubu’s tenure as the Governor of Lagos State. His career trajectory within the Lagos Civil Service culminated in his appointment as the Head of Service in December 2018.
Hakeem Muri-Okunola, who is the first son of the late esteemed jurist, Justice Muritala Okunola, is set to assume his duties as the Principal Private Secretary to President Tinubu on Monday, September 18, as part of several recent appointments announced by the President’s spokesperson.
