Taiwo Awoniyi Donates Cash and School Supplies to Alma Mater
Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, made a generous cash donation and writing materials to his former school in Ilorin, as reported by The PUNCH.
Awoniyi paid a surprise visit to his primary and secondary schools, Adetunji Nursery and Primary School, Alfa Yahaya, Ilorin, and Government Day Secondary School.
During his visit to Adetunji Nursery and Primary School, Awoniyi expressed gratitude to the school’s founder, AbdulRahman Adetunji, for inspiring him during his early years. He encouraged the pupils and students of both schools to pursue their dreams.
Awoniyi reminisced, “This man (Adetunji) is a huge inspiration. He made me the Games Prefect while I was in primary 4. He was always encouraging us, and his support was instrumental in my journey. I attribute my success to listening to the teachers and following their instructions.”
In addition to his donation, the Nottingham Forest striker is renovating six classrooms and a hall at Government Day Secondary School, Ilorin. The school management expressed their appreciation and gratitude for Awoniyi’s support.
Awoniyi joined Forest from Union Berlin last summer for a transfer fee of £20m. His goals played a pivotal role in helping Forest retain their position in the top flight, earning them 13 points and elevating them to 16th place in the league with 38 points from 38 games.
Opta statistics reveal that Awoniyi’s goals accounted for 13 of those points. Without his contributions, Forest would have only secured 25 points, placing them in the relegation zone.
