The suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa Ari’s arraignment could not hold on Monday as he went into hiding.
This was made known to the Adamawa State High Court of Justice by the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), CSP Moses Jolugbo.
According to Jolugbo, Ari and his surety had become evasive. He added that the police were unable to trace their whereabouts.
Reports say the police bail bond for Ari was signed by the recently removed Adamawa Senator, Elisha Abbo.
Following the absence of the defendant, the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs prayed the court to issue an arrest warrant against Yunusa-Ari.
Justice Benjamin Manji, however, advised Jacobs to write a formal application in the regard.
Justice Manji queried why the police which granted the defendant bail would require a warrant of arrest against their own suspect.
He, therefore, adjoined the case to November 23, to enable the police to produce Yunusa-Ari or get the court’s arrest warrant.
