Six young boys, aged 16,17,18,20, and 27, have been arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman in Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The suspects are Afam Ezenwa, Chijioke Ifeanyi, Collins Obadom, Abuchi Okechukwu , Chima Obiekezie and Sunday Okafor.
They are currently undergoing investigation at State Criminal Investigative Department, Anambra Police Command, and will be charged in Court for their crime.
According to the victim, it all happened when she visited her maternal home in Oramaetiti and got ambushed by a group of boys who took her to a room and took turns in defiling her.
While interacting with the Honourable Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare Anambra State, Hon Ify Obinabo, the victim disclosed that despite her plea, they did not stop until they filled their sexual urge and one of them was filming her during the act.
She also stated that after she was rescued by some neighbors who heard her shouting for help, she left for her house and was accosted by another set of boys who first harassed her and forced her to give them her underwear.
She said she obeyed because they threatened to kill her.
According to the parents of the survivor who pleaded anonymity, their daughter is the third victim of the alleged rape suspects and they are known for raping girls and collecting their pants, which usually results in the death of their victims after some time.
Meanwhile, Hon Obinabo assured the victim that justice would take its full course.
