The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the application filed by Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that seeks the sacking of Governor Hope Uzodinma as governor of Imo State.
The prayer of the applicant is that the apex court should give a consequential order to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Ihedioha as the validly elected governor of Imo state in the 2019 election.
The lead judgment was read on Tuesday by Justice Tijjani Abubakar.
In the judgement, Justice Abubakar held that the application lacked merit and was frivolous and vexatious.
According to him, the court lacked jurisdiction to determine the matter.
He added that the 60 days stipulated to hear the election matter had since elapsed.
As a result, the judge fined Counsel for the PDP, Mike Ozekhome N40m for bringing the matter before the court.
