Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Sunday, hosted the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, at the Lagos House, Marina.
Sanwo-Olu described the monarch as a “king among kings.”
He said the Oba’s visit was a testament to the “commitment to cultural harmony and collaboration: between Lagos and Edo States. ”
The governor disclosed this in a statement on his official X handle and also expressed delight on the visit.
He titled the statement, ‘Oba ghato kpere ise.’
The governor stated, “Honoured to host His Royal Majesty, Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II of Benin, a king among kings this beautiful Sunday at Lagos House, Marina.
“The visit by The Oba of Benin reaffirms our commitment to cultural harmony and collaboration between Lagos and Edo. Grateful for the opportunity to strengthen bonds and celebrate our shared heritage.
“As part of the activities to welcome and honour His Royal Majesty, Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II of Benin, I took him on a tour of the J Randle Center for Arts & Culture showcasing the rich Yoruba heritage.”
“The cultural centre has an outdoor theatre, public square, space for learning programmes, art installations, live music events, a permanent exhibition, library, training, and conference rooms, and a concession block for refreshment lounges, bleacher stand, lawn area, and a world-class swimming pool.
