A lecturer of the University of Lagos, Dr. Kadiri Akeem Babalola, accused of raping a 20-year-old student of the school will be arraigned before the Court soon.
The Police got the news of the incident after the victim reported the incident to an NGO, Inclusive Social Welfare and Empowerment Foundation.
According to her, the lecturer, who is an Associate Professor of Botany, raped her when she visited his office to sort out issues pertaining to her results.
She told the NGO that rather than Babalola attending to her result issues, he raped her on August 16, 2023.
InclusiveSWEF then reported the case to the Gender Unit of the State Police Command and through the OC Gender, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, issued a warrant of arrest for Babalola through the State High Court and involved the Vice Chancellor of UNILAG and gave him seven days to produce Babalola.
InclusiveSWEF said when the VC invited the randy lecturer for questioning, he admitted to committing the crime and was eventually arrested.
The State Police Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in reaction to the incident, wrote on his X social media page, that “he is to appear in court in the coming days.”
