President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set strategic priorities for the 45 Ministers as well as standards for performance management.

At the inaugural meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Monday, the President charged ministers to look beyond titles and offices and stay focused on the day-to-day task of their individual and collective contributions to the transformation of the nation’s economy.

He expressed confidence that the carefully selected cabinet members know that his government is a new one with a new approach and a new mandate to deliver for Nigeria without any lamentation or excuses.

He further maintained that the country would rely on the experience, skill, intellect, and networking of those who had been appointed to make headway in the challenging times, and failure would not be explained away under his watch.

Here are the 5 key points from President Bola Tinubu’s address to Ministers at the Federal Executive Council:

    1. “Underperformance Will Not Be Tolerated”: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sets a non-negotiable mandate for accountability and exceptional performance among ministers.

    1. A New Economic Blueprint: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu calls for a groundbreaking, homegrown fiscal strategy with the specific aim of uplifting the well-being of Nigerian households. Echoing the President’s words, the administration is committed to a ‘homegrown re-engineering of our finances”for the welfare of Nigerian households.

    1. Performance Over Tenure: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu unequivocally states that cabinet positions are not a “fixed-term” appointment but are earned and retained through measurable results.

    1. Strategic Focus on Inclusive Growth and Security: Leveraging President Tinubu’s own words, the council aims for a policy implementation that will “reform the economy, ensure inclusive growth, and strengthen security for peace and prosperity.”

    1. Adaptive Leadership with Open Dialogue: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu opens the doors for consultative governance, affirming that he is “ready to listen and to cooperate.”
