Police Operatives at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex watched in surprise as the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara supervised the pulling down of the assembly complex using bulldozers.
The pulling down of the Assembly comes a few days after 27 members of the assembly defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to which the governor is the leader in the state.
While Governor Fubara drove to the complex, the security men at the venue did not try to stop or interfere with the action as they maintained their distance and watched in surprise.
It was gathered that the governor drove into the assembly complex, unknown to security operatives that he wanted to pull down the complex.
This is unlike a similar incident on October 30th, 2023, when it was alleged that the governor was fired with tear gas by police operatives as he walked along a road in Port Harcourt following an impeachment threat against him by the assembly.
