Despite the orientation and disciplinary measures put in place by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, some bad eggs in the system still go extra miles to engage in unwholesome activities.
One of the current cases is some police officers who were arrested for forcefully collecting over N20m naira from a resident.
According to the Mr Harrison Gwamnishu, the incident happened in January, 2024.Gwamnishu in a video posted via his X(formerly Twitter) account alleged that the victim was allegedly kidnapped by the erring officers and they detained him until they withdrew all his savings in the account.
He further alleged that the victim was taken away from his site without any prior allegation or invitation brought to him, and he was not even required to write any statement.
FPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi while speaking with Crime fighters, confirmed the incident and the arrest arrest of some the culprits.He further said that the force had put necessary measures in place to ensure that justice will be served accordingly.
“We are making headway on this matter, and justice will be served, as some suspects have been arrested. Police Spokesperson stated.
It could be recall that the Anambra State Police Command, yesterday, declared an officer,Inspector Audu Omafule, with AP No.362178 wanted over alleged murder.
The Ogun State Police Command also recently dismissed three officers for the case of armed robbery. The dismissed officers were Inspector Taiwo Kolawole with force number AP/No 341113, Inspector John Ogbe with force number AP/No 309292, and Cpl Idowu Sunday, with force number 513707. All the officers were attached to Ijebu-Ife in Ijebu East Local Government Area of the state.
