The police in Gombe State have confirmed that two persons have been kidnapped in the Shabewa community of Dukku Local Government Area by criminals.
This was confirmed by the Spokesman of the police command in the state, ASP Mahid Abubakar on Sunday.
ASP Abubakar said the police would utilise its partnership with the local vigilante group to ensure their timely release.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim, has deployed operatives who would ensure that the two yet-to-be-identified captives were released without harm.
According to reports, the command had in September said at least 67 persons were declared missing between January and September 2023 in the state.
Abubakar said, “We have confirmed the abduction of a male and a female from the Shabewa community of Dukku Local Government Area.
“The Commissioner of Police has deployed an operational team to work alongside the vigilante group to rescue the victims unhurt. They are presently in the bush in chase of the criminals.”
