169 Cadet Officers of the 5th Regular Course passed out from the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano State, on Saturday.
The passing out parade marks their commissioning into the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendent of Police after five years of undergoing training in the institution.
The Cadets carried out a marching display in front of proud families, Police Officers, and special guests. The ceremony was also witnessed by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima; Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero; acting Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, and other dignitaries.
In his address, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized that the country needs well-trained Officers with the right orientation, history, initiative, and sound operational capacity.
He noted that the passing out of the Officers renews his faith in a collective path to protect the country and institutionalize the culture of justice.
He charged the Officers to ‘bear the promise to fulfill the uncompromising guidance of your father’s land.’
‘May you all embark on this journey with courage and determination knowing that the nation needs your patriotic services. Stay vigilant, stay united, and stay true to ideas that will make our Police Force an example of honor and integrity,” he intoned.
Similarly, the Commandant of the Academy, Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, maintained that the objective of the academy is to produce an ideal Superior Police Officer who is equipped with the knowledge and skills to face the challenges of policing in an increasingly complex Nigerian society and a technologically sophisticated world.
“Always remember the role that has been placed on your shoulders. Each interaction you have with the public will shape their perspective about the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.
