There was a minor accident on the tarmac at Vancouver International Airport on Sunday afternoon after an Air Canada plane hit another aircraft.
Air Canada confirmed this in a statement after the incident.
“We can confirm that an Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319 aircraft and Jazz Air Canada Express Q400 aircraft made contact on the tarmac at YVR this afternoon,” Air Canada said in a statement.
“While being pushed back from the gate, the Rouge plane’s wingtip made contact with that of the Q400, which was parked at a nearby gate.”
According to the statement, there were no injuries to both customers and ground personnel.
“Customers on both flights will travel to their final destinations on other aircraft today,” it said.
While confirming the incident, Vancouver Airport said there were no reported injuries.
It added that YVR Fire and Rescue responded immediately.
“The safety and security of our passengers and employees is our top priority,” it said.
