One suspected bandit has been killed while two others were arrested following a deadly attack on Policemen on stop and search duty at Oleh roundabout area of Delta State.
The suspected bandits shot and killed two operatives and set their patrol vehicle ablaze.
On Sunday, Police operatives attached to the Dragon Patrol team, in collaboration with troops from the Nigerian Army, 63 Brigade, and local vigilante, went after the attackers and engaged them in a serious gun duel.
The hoodlums subsided and fled into the bush with gunshot injuries.
The team traced their blood to a river where one AK-47 rifle was recovered.
According to the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the response team sustained the tempo and continued the operation on Monday.
“They stormed Erewa community bush in Isoko North LGA, where they engaged the remnant of the bandits in a serious gun duel, neutralized one of them, arrested two others, recovered two more AK-47 rifles, one assault rifle, four magazines, and twelve 7.62 AK-47 ammunition.
The effort is still on to track down other members of the syndicate,” he said.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, has assured residents that the Command will not relent in the fight against crime and criminality while counting on the support from the well-meaning public to ensure that the State is safe for all.
