The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old Senior Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ola Olayode for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to armed robbers.
Olayode is alleged to have supplied arms and ammunition to a 36-year-old Owonikoko John, who is a Unit Commandant of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, (VGN) who in turn used it for robbery.
John is the mastermind of several nefarious crimes that took place at Obalende and other areas of the state.
He was nabbed along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode-Benin Highway during a police operation led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Omosanyi Adeniyi.
A gun was recovered from his possession after his arrest.
John, in his confessional statement, fingered Ola, who is also a spy police, as the supplier of the gun in his possession.
Sensing the implication of John’s confessional statement, Ola named another police officer as the person who sold the gun to him.
