Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said there was no assassination attempt on his life, contrary to earlier reports.
Recall that the Commissioner for Information in the state, Kingsley Fanwo has announced on Sunday evening that the governor’s convoy was attacked on his way to Abuja.
However, Bello while addressing reporters in Abuja, said there was a minor fracas involving his convoy.
According to him, the situation was only a minor fracas between policemen attached to his convoy and those of a military unit manning the highways.
The governor added that it was in the course of both units performing their lawful security duties that the incident happened.
The Kogi governor praised the security agencies for their joint contributions to the improved security of lives and property.
This joint contributions, he noted, has benefited the citizens of the state.
He called for investigation by the agencies involved over overzealousness or unprofessional conduct by any of their men involved in the incident and apply the necessary sanctions.
