Major win for Nigeria as one of its finest strikers, Victor Osimhen on Monday, clinched the Italian Footballers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
The win followed Osimhen’s victorious season in Napoli.
Osimhen led in the Partenopei’s first title-winning season in 33 years.
The Nigerian striker and other teammates won various awards at the ceremony.
A video of Osimhen receiving the award was shared on the X page of the association late Monday.
According to Football Italia, the Footballer of the Year is considered the most prestigious award of the night and has previously been awarded to the likes of Rafael Leao, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Osimhen was selected as the 2023 winner due to his goalscoring contributions, as he scored 26 times during 32 Serie A appearances.
