A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly killed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, leaving residents of the community shocked.

Details surrounding the incident, including what may have triggered the alleged attack, remain unclear. However, preliminary reports indicated that Nwaọjị was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep.

A member of the community, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday, describing it as a shocking development.

Amaraizu said the couple had been married since December 2025 and had spent less than eight months together before the incident occurred.

He said residents were unaware of any serious disagreement between the couple before the incident.

According to him, the woman has been arrested and is currently in Police custody, while the deceased’s remains have been deposited at a morgue.

When contacted for the Police position on the incident, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, said she would respond later.

However, no further official statement had been received from the Police as of the time of filing the report.

The incident comes months after another woman was reportedly arrested in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, over the alleged killing of her husband, an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

The February 2026 incident was linked to an alleged dispute involving infidelity.

The then Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, had confirmed the arrest of the suspect and said the case was being investigated as murder at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
