The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken a break from official duties after more than a month of commissioning projects, launching new developments and inspecting ongoing infrastructure works across Abuja.
Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, announced the minister’s vacation in a post on X on Monday.
Olayinka said the minister had spent over 30 days moving across the Federal Capital Territory to assess ongoing projects and monitor developments, particularly those expected to be completed and commissioned in December and January.
“Holiday time for Nyerisi. He is somewhere in the world, relaxing after spending over 30 days, commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing ones, especially those scheduled for commissioning in December and January, next year,” Olayinka stated.
Wike has recently maintained an intensive schedule of project-related activities as the FCT Administration pushes to accelerate infrastructure development across the capital.
His engagements have included the commissioning of completed projects, groundbreaking ceremonies for new ones and inspections aimed at assessing the progress of ongoing construction works.
Olayinka said the minister had now stepped away from the demanding schedule to take some time to rest.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, was appointed FCT Minister by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023.
Since assuming office, he has focused heavily on road construction and rehabilitation, upgrades to public infrastructure, expansion of facilities and development projects in satellite towns.
His vacation comes as the FCT Administration continues preparations for the completion and commissioning of several projects in the months ahead.
