A public disagreement has emerged between social media activist Martins Vincent
Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and Assistant Inspector-General
of Police (AIG) Olohundare Moshood Jimoh over the police investigation into the
Ajiran murder case.
The controversy began after VDM released a series of videos on social media
alleging irregularities in the police investigation and questioning the role played by
AIG Jimoh in the handling of the case. The activist called for an independent
review of the investigation and urged the Nigeria Police Force to ensure
transparency.
In response, AIG Jimoh dismissed the allegations, insisting that the investigation
was carried out in accordance with the law and that the matter is already before a
competent court.
According to the senior police officer, the police conducted their investigation
based on available evidence before filing charges in court.
“The matter is already in court and justice must prevail,” Jimoh said.
“Police work terminates when matters are taken to court. As a professional officer,
I’m not allowed to talk about the matter.”
The dispute has attracted widespread attention on social media, with supporters of
both VDM and the police expressing differing views on the handling of the case.
While VDM has continued to question the investigation and demand accountability,
AIG Jimoh maintained that the judicial process should be allowed to take its
course.
The Ajiran murder case remains before the court, and no court has made any
finding against AIG Jimoh regarding the allegations raised by VDM. Likewise, the
issues raised by the activist remain subject to the ongoing judicial process.
