A Magistrate Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State, has sentenced six men to two years’ imprisonment each for allegedly assaulting officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI).
The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
According to Wahab, the convicts were arrested on October 10 in the Alakija area of the state following an alleged attack on KAI officers who were performing their official duties.
He said the suspects were subsequently arraigned before the court, where they all pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them.
Following their guilty pleas, the court convicted and sentenced each of the six men to two years in prison.
The convicts were identified as Ghadafi Ismail, Balarabe Mustapha, Usman Danladi, Abdullahi Bello, Kamala Garuba and Musa Idris.
Reacting to the judgment, Wahab stressed the need for residents to respect law enforcement officers and allow them to discharge their statutory responsibilities without intimidation, violence or obstruction.
He warned that the Lagos State Government would not tolerate attacks on public officials carrying out lawful duties, adding that offenders would face the consequences prescribed by law.
The commissioner said the conviction should serve as a warning to residents against resorting to violence when dealing with government officials enforcing regulations.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining law and order, safeguarding public officers and enforcing environmental sanitation regulations and other applicable laws across Lagos State.
