The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the activities of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has directed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, to produce the man claiming to be the agency’s Director-General, Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the committee.

The committee instructed the IGP to ensure Adeyemi appears before lawmakers on July 29, 2026, at noon, as its investigation into the controversial council continues.

The directive came during the committee’s sitting on Monday, where the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, disclosed that his office rejected a request by the PFIPC to open a Treasury Single Account (TSA).

According to Ogunjimi, the request was turned down because the council had not fulfilled the required due diligence procedures.

He explained that although the PFIPC sought approval to operate a TSA account, the Office of the Accountant-General withheld authorisation pending compliance with established verification and regulatory requirements.

The committee’s investigation follows allegations made by Adeyemi, who identified himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, against the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

During a press conference, Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the council’s proposed ₦27.3 billion take-off grant. He further claimed that the Chief of Staff received ₦400 million through a proxy and later requested an additional ₦200 million to facilitate presidential approvals.

However, Gbajabiamila has strongly denied all the allegations in a sworn statement, insisting that he has never had any personal, official or professional relationship with Adeyemi.

The Chief of Staff also denied demanding or receiving money, abusing the powers of his office or influencing the activities of any law enforcement agency.

He further rejected claims linking him to the death of Babatunde Tanimola, whom Adeyemi alleged served as an intermediary, as well as accusations of involvement in an alleged assassination attempt on Adeyemi and interference in investigations being conducted by security agencies.
